Who are the Circassians of the Arab World?
November 19, 2017
An exploratory view of the Circassians: their origins, culture and identity and presence in the Arab World. The Circassians are largely a forgotten population except in a few countries where their presence is notable. Originally from the Western Caucasus, they were admired for their hospitality, beautiful appearance and for being brave warriors among other things. Towards the end of the 19th Century, Russian aggression forced them to flee their hometown and settle in Ottoman Empire lands.
